Product demand
There is untapped potential for Gourmet Guru that we think Woolworths can capitalise on. While we have tested this product in market through seasonal listings paired with strawberries in other retailers, we believe there is a far greater opportunity for it to be available year-round in Woolworths stores in the desserts / sauces category. Making it consistently available and educating consumers on pairing it with desserts, other fruits, and breakfast foods could significantly increase sales volumes. We already sell over 45,000 tubs through other retailers over a short sales period from September to December with minimal marketing, indicating strong market acceptance for the product.

In just a few short months, we've gained significant traction in the social media space, particularly with strategic campaigns on TikTok to enhance brand awareness for our chocolate sauce brands and our journey to introduce Gourmet Guru to Woolworths a grocery produce. We are eager to invest further in marketing to grow our market share and drive new consumers to the category, adding substantial value to our partnership with Woolworths. What are the consumer problems we’re trying to solve?
Low sugar or sugar free products generally don’t taste that good. Now look, nothing is as good as the real thing but we believe our product has a superior taste to competitors. We really encourage you to try it for yourself!
“For Me” consumers want more options. Calorie counters might be attracted to this products as a by product of our marketing efforts however our product and marketing efforts will target a much broader audience of consumers who are buying “for me” and looking to indulge with a view for making more balanced, lifestyle driven decisions. We’re talking to the same consumer who might partake in a 3pm Diet Coke “pick me up”. Gourmet Guru is the 8am breakie or 8pm dessert equivalent! The treat you need (without the sugar dump), right when you need it.
Our consumers want functional packaging that is purpose made. Our square PET recyclable pots set us apart from the rest. Consumers no longer need to spend time in their day pouring sauce bottles upside down or spinning them around to get the last drop out. With our carefully designed tubs consumers can easily spread their chocolate sauce on waffles or pancakes or grab a scoop of chocolate sauce to drop in with their morning greek yoghurt. They can use every last drop of our sauce without breaking a sweat. The smaller format packaging is also designed to drive higher frequency of repeat purchases. This not only enhances customer loyalty but also delivers increased margins for Woolworths.
People want to buy local, where possible. Our products are proudly made here in Aotearoa and we are a māori owned, whānau business. We ourselves live by this ethos of “buying local” and we hope by building a personal brand that profiles our business (i.e. through Tik Tok), that others will support us on this journey too.
